John T. Unger: A Man on a Mission

September 5, 2012 by Joanna

Artist and designer, John T. Unger doesn’t simply craft the most mind-scorching firebowls known to man, he specializes in “impossibility remediation”—if it can’t be done, he’s on it. He often wakes thinking about how he can change, fix or improve the world as we know it. Well, we know he’s certainly made it a more beautiful place with his body of work which encompasses sculpture, mosaic and ironwork. He’s also contributed greatly to taking care of mother earth through sustainable design and materials by using recycled materials and designing for permanence and functionality.

On that note he says, My creative mandate is “sustainable design with an edge.” Just because we’re good doesn’t mean we have to be boring, right? I think there’s a place for rock n’ roll to dance with environmental responsibility in a house shakin’ way. If green products are to compete in the market, they need to be sexy, sleek and chic— cooler than new.”

We think Unger is as cool as his designs and so do our customers. We especially love his firebowls, true works of sculptural art, which can be found around the world. Some love these magical creations so much they have traveled with theirs over seas and continents and back again (find out more.)

We’ve dedicated a section of our website specifically to Unger’s iron art which he handcrafts from 100% recycled steel making each piece totally unique. John T. Unger firebowls make the most stunning centerpieces and accents in outdoor spaces in most any environment. Place by the pool for a spectacular vista, gather round one on a chilly night, or enjoy unlit in the corner of the garden. The possibilities are plentiful.

Take a look on our website, TimelessWroughtIron.com, at Unger’s complete line of firebowls including his popular “Great Bowl O’ Fire”, “Fiery Fleur-de-Lis” and “Waves O’Fire Firebowl”. We promise an awe-inspiring moment.
