We’re excited to be talking about one of our favorite topics today-banquette seating paired with side chairs for a stunning look in the dining room. Banquettes come in all shapes, sizes and styles, as do side chairs. Finding the perfect mix of the two for your dining room or eat-in kitchen can be so much fun. Whether you’re going for a formal look or casual elegance, a banquette + side chairs can be a great design choice for your dream dining space.
In an unexpected turn of events, the best table in this house just happens to be right outside the kitchen. And what a kitchen it is-all glassed-in offering great view of the chef in action. A word of warning here. Once you’ve examined this formal dining space with its unusual location, chic striped corner banquette and low back chairs, it may be impossible to forget. Did we mention that gorgeous rectangular shaded pendant? All in all, this is dining perfection just a step away from the kitchen.
Who knew how good a tufted leather banquette and gilded Louis side chairs could look with a wood-topped wrought iron table? Brunch anyone? Find the right leather chairs can be difficult to come by, some of what we found were in antique stores and second-hand store. They were old and worn, luckily we knew where to look when it came to taking care of a leather couch and chairs.
Alice would love to host a tea party here in this slightly whimsical corner dining space. A high-backed tufted wingback banquette is unexpected with a country style table and low wrought iron bistro side chairs, but so are two globe pendant lights over a round table. Yes, Alice and her Wonderland friends would approve.
How clever is this tiny banquette that serves as seating at the end of a oval Saarinen Tulip table? Almost always a banquette runs along the side of a long table, so this is a little surprise that works well here with slender contemporary side chairs.
A reproduction Victorian settee turned banquette is the focal point of a lovely eclectic dining room. Vintage and vintage-look pieces merge beautifully with metallic accessories.
How charming is this color and pattern-infused corner banquette paired with a round wrought iron table and lattice-back side chairs? The vintage iron chandelier is unexpected and quite captivating.
Not all banquettes have high backs. This window seat built into a bay window works well with a long table and faux bamboo chairs. It’s all white with turquoise cushions-chic and stylish.
A built-in low back curved banquette fits nicely into the sunroom of this charming coastal home. It’s the ideal spot for a round wrought iron table and white faux bamboo side chairs. Here, the look is completed with some roller blinds in the same material as the cushions on the seating. I think they look great, particularly as they match – though “tier on tier” shutters are my favourite style of window dressing, especially in a bay window like this.
