An eat-in kitchen is for many the heart of their home. But, what to do if there’s not a lot of available space for a dining table and chairs in your kitchen? Creating a spot for a quick breakfast, or in some cases lunch and dinner too in a tiny apartment that has no dining room, often requires thinking outside of the design box. Consider every corner no matter how small. How about a shelf wide enough for a place mat under a window? Could you buy tolix bar stools that can just tuck under the worksurface? Or perhaps a narrow bar to separate the kitchen from the living room? Could a drop leaf table work? Well, you get the idea. Still need a little visual inspiration for your very own version of a small eat-in kitchen? Maybe it would be a good idea to get in contact with some Southern Maryland general contractors to give you an idea of how much a total revamp of your kitchen would cost. You’ll find some interesting possibilities below:
Many narrow kitchens have all the counter tops and appliances along one wall facing a blank wall on the other side. In such a case, a counter height bar just big enough to accommodate a trio of stools would work.
Here’s a clever idea for an unused space at the end of a cabinet. Simply extend the countertop to create a dining spot for two. If you can’t decide which colour or style of countertop to buy, it might be worth checking out Caesarstone Alpine Mist.
Remember that shelf under a window we talked about above? Here’s one that’s fitted in over a radiator. It’s raised a bit above the window sill to accommodate counter height stools.
A simple but chic bar has been built to make room for four wire barstools in this tiny living space.
With not much space between the wall and the door jamb, the uses for this space is limited. Outside the box thinking resulted in a wall to wall banquette, narrow dining table and Tulip chairs with a small footprint.
This is such a cool idea. Brings to mind a 50s diner doesn’t it? It’s easy to fall for this design because it incorporates so many cleaver elements. Yes, we love the shape of that banquette.
A small white kitchen becomes a chic eclectic dining room by adding a low hung round wrought iron chandelier, a shiny contemporary table and vintage painted side chairs.
Not enough room in the kitchen for a full round table? Consider a a drop leaf table to use with one leaf done and pushed against the wall. A perfect dining spot for two. Of course, the other leaf can be raised for entertaining.
Consider turning a kitchen with limited floor space into an eat-in kitchen with a small center island. This one has an extended counter top that’s just right for two stools.
This small iron table is irresistible with vintage Tolix metal chairs. A narrow table like this with chairs pushed in takes up hardly any floor space.
Be sure to check out our collection of wrought iron tables to find one that will work in your small kitchen to turn it into a lovely dining space.
As a quick note before I end this post and go to bed for the evening. I get so many questions asking about how to get Instagram followers. To give you a hint… socialfollow helps you get followers… You could check them out if you have 5 minutes to spare!
