7 Ways to Tastefully Use the Woodland Trend in Your Decor

February 1, 2014 by Joanna

With urbanites yearning for a bit of nature, nature-themed home accents are trending big in 2014.  The woodland creature trend has the likenesses of deer, owls, rabbits, foxes and song birds appearing on everything from pillows to tabletops to wallpaper.

These décor elements can add a lovely natural element to any room when done tastefully. Moderation is key—limit your space to one or two woodland elements as this is one trend that can easily become kitschy.

deer-antler-decor Antlers have been a popular wall accent in homes for centuries, but not all of us are inclined to use one’s that were once attached to a deer’s head. We love faux antlers especially in white like those shown here in an elegant gallery style application featuring varied types.

In particular, the market is filled with pillows featuring everything from black and white silhouettes of deer to intricate forest scenes. There isn’t a more subtle way to use this trend than this pillow with simple fox outline.

Using a one, two or a small grouping of woodland-themed figurines or accents mixed with other unrelated items will keep the kitsch in check.
